Garages - Meadow way

I have just heard on Reading 107fm that a block of garages in Meadow way are being demolished, because of youths cauing antisocial behaviour.

any one know which block this is, as i live in Meadow Way and this is the first i have heard about it.

I think it's the first block on the right as you come in off Station Road. The place is just full of rubbish, the roofs of virtually every garage are broken/have been broken by kids running across the top (and it's asbestos) and the place is just asking for some teenage 'fire-starter' to come along and get his jollies by waving the odd match about.......

Having said that, MOST of the garage blocks in the road are never used for parking cars anymore. (Most cars these days don't fit in them as they were designed for little Austin Morris' or something. A real waste of space that could be much better used.

You're right Gary and no-one would risk leaving a car there that they might like to continue using! One particular unit is full up with old furnishings and used plumbing accessories, just waiting to be set alight. If this facility isn't going to good use, then it should be demolished before some youngster gets injured, if it was flattened and cleared, it could be used as a parking erea for the nearest houses, as it was originaly intended, but being `open' it would be less likely to atract unwanted attention!

they have started demolishing them today, its the ones that back on to the BT building, if they are being demolished due to anti social behaviour, then they will only move on to another block.

Thanks for the update -- I was told it was the garages near the Station Rd end, so the above info sounds right.
