I presented the petition for a pedestrian crossing, or school patrol, in Englefield Road to the West Berks Council Executive meeting last Thursday (18th February).

The petition has 132 names.

My thanks go to Shelley Gore, who organised the petionn and all those who signed it.

woohoo....! A petition requesting the Council delves into the magic box and brings out a Lollipop Lady! (PC term is probably now School Crossing Patrol Person)... It's a rare beast is a Lollipop Lady these days... Almost extinct in fact... Where do these petitioners think the Council can magic one of those up from?

I mean who'd want to stick their name in the frame for that job... I understand it is paid, but it barely covers the shoe leather getting from home to the designated 'crossing site'. Up in all weathers and at awkward times...

Howsabout some of those that signed the petition actually raise their hand and volunteer to become that very Lollipop Person??!!

Is it really too much to ask?! Really?!

Is Trisha or the other afternoon TV tat really more worthy of their time?

What gets me is that people are always willing to sign petitions, but only when they're sure they aren't going to end up actually having to DO something.
But a `zebra'/`pelican' crossing would be fine, right Gary? Just where the chicane is, adjacent to the RC Church and Theale Medical Centre, a crossing point used by most everyone inTheale.
